It was very strange using a full-sunlight color palette, I'm outside of my dark-and-neon comfort zone here.

I've almost recovered from my wrist injury, I've been able to draw comfortably for the past few days so I am once again back into the swing of things, but as I mentioned previously it will cause a delay down the line near the end of this chapter, we might have to skip a week or two nearing the last couple of pages.

Big thanks goes out to Sara, Kenneth and Richard who donated to the comic this week, thanks guys!

I like the bright palette, tbh. It's so refreshing and gorgeous.

The lift up to the top is more clean and modern than I expected - I thought anything having to do with the outside world would be dingy and gross, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

(Not to mention Vinnie and Galvin look hotter than usual, lol.)

Glad to see your wrist is better, by the way.
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:26 PM edit delete reply
I generally want to make the city cleaner and "higher class" as you go up. You'll notice more scuff marks, graffiti and grunge in the art the lower you go.

Yeah, I loved that last panel and thought " I bet those top apartments are pricey ! " B-)

the last panel is the sexiest panel. cool view and really explains what hyperion is.

That shot was a beast, but one I would have to come across sooner or later!
Lilli 15th Mar 2015, 5:47 AM edit delete reply
Holy Shit. Well the injury didn't hurt your art any. Gorgeous page.

Oh wow is right.

Surely there is more out in the wastelands than wasted land. And they've just been using propaganda??? Well you know, just wanna see Vinnie and Galvin find a cheaper way of being together.
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:27 PM edit delete reply
They're working on it!
chris-tar 15th Mar 2015, 6:10 AM edit delete reply
Wow. This update really shows why you are a world class artist totally deserving of those high paying gigs!
Especially love that last scene of the city coming out of the impact crater.
Can't wait to see more of the "Outlands"!
Reminds me of Judge Dredd's Cursed Earth!
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:29 PM edit delete reply
Yeah lots of inspiration taken from Dredd, Fist of the North Star and other post apocalypse notables here.
Sapfo 15th Mar 2015, 6:17 AM edit delete reply
Yes that Kiss was so worth it!
And I hope a whole lot of more kissing might happen when outside the city.
And the sunlight can just in the right time (spring is coming to my part of the world :D)

Happy to hear that your hand is getting better. Keep on rocking :D
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:29 PM edit delete reply
It's slowly coming here, can't come soon enough, we've had a really rough winter this year! Made drawing these scenes kind of euphoric.
Sapfo 15th Mar 2015, 3:43 PM edit delete reply
Euphoria can be good for the heart.

I was quite excited myself to see daylight; hope they'll enjoy it although... sight of devastation is pretty depressing for me.
Any greenery on planet?

Looking forward to their non restricted time ^^
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:32 PM edit delete reply
Yeah some greenery in certain locations but certainly is a rarity, it's mostly desert wasteland. And autonoms can run small-scale farms with special care.
Barbara 15th Mar 2015, 10:45 AM edit delete reply
I love sunlight, it's great to see the comic reach it just as we get out of the dark months IRL (yeah, I agree with Sapfo - sorry, folks Down Under!).

Maybe we'll learn more about Vinnie's parents?

PS typo: vomiting, one t only.

Yep got that type, thanks!

I've noticed Vin getting thinner and thinner throughout the series. Not complaining really, just wondering if he is intentionally losing weight story wise?
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:34 PM edit delete reply
No it's not something I've paid attention to, might just be a consequence of the style changing over time, I've always tried to keep him at the same weight. Might have something to do with not being in his usual bulky hoodie.
Dora 20th Mar 2015, 9:11 PM edit delete reply
with all the extra shifts Vinnie has been pulling & with all the extra activity he's getting with Galvin :D

(damn) the 1st part of the previous sentence was:
"Actually, a weight loss is pretty logical

What a great update! That last panel is awe-inspiring.
And given the long, cold winter we've had in eastern Ontario, the idea of a hot, sunny vacation is very inviting right now. :P
Notos 15th Mar 2015, 2:35 PM edit delete reply
I hear you, winter was hell this year. Drawing these last few pages came with a lot of yearning.
Ovnuniarchos 15th Mar 2015, 2:31 PM edit delete reply
You did a different kind of scenery pr0n. Yummy!
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:36 AM edit delete reply
Yeah doing the wastelands was definitely a change in scenery, no pun intended.
Liska 15th Mar 2015, 3:43 PM edit delete reply
I bet there's a tropical paradise somewhere out in that desolate area that Hyperion city doesn't want anyone else to know about !

Such a beautiful view of the city though - I can't wait to see Vinnie and Galvin (hopefully) relax a little and be able to spend some time together.
Draginbeard 15th Mar 2015, 4:20 PM edit delete reply
Oh wow, the surface is pretty cooked and barren alright.

The city looks that much more inviting!
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:37 AM edit delete reply
Being an autonom might not be all it's chalked up to be!

justkeepondriving 15th Mar 2015, 5:51 PM edit delete reply
And I think you did well with the sunny palette too :)
KtyX 15th Mar 2015, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
I like the way the light beam moved across panel 2. It really gave the impression the sky was overhead.

RadjinWolf 16th Mar 2015, 1:00 AM edit delete reply
I'm looking at the last panel and all I can think is that those must be some super rich mofos to be able to live all the way at the tippy top!
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:32 PM edit delete reply
Politicians and big big celebs are up there, for sure.
Kecoleo 16th Mar 2015, 4:50 AM edit delete reply
WOW! always impressed with your comic! although I am curious... is there any reason that you don't break the typical comic book convention? I mean in this "page" you could have started the panels from the bottom and gone up the page (like how they are going to the surface...) it would still have worked right? I have been considering who I will be formatting my own comic... (yours has been a great inspiration!)
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:34 PM edit delete reply
I still try to stay within typical comic composition despite the different format BT uses; I like the pages to still have a comprehensive flow when all the panels are revealed.
Gerardo Ramirez 16th Mar 2015, 6:23 AM edit delete reply
I am really glad that i stumbled upon this comic and i think you are doing a great job with it! <3
And i'm glad to hear that your wrist is getting better, don't push yourself too much ^u^
Can't wait to see the update and sorry that i didn't donate more for you :(
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:35 PM edit delete reply
Thanks a lot Gerardo, glad you are digging the comic! And thank you very much for the donation, I appreciate them all no matter the amount!
Wuffles 16th Mar 2015, 7:44 AM edit delete reply
What are the chances that they might bump into Vinnie's parents? And honestly, the more I learn about this impact, the more curious I get!
Notos 16th Mar 2015, 12:36 PM edit delete reply
Pretty unlikely, Vinnie's parents are kind of illusive. But, anything is possible!
josbell975 16th Mar 2015, 1:38 PM edit delete reply
Worth it! That last panel...I LOVE how BOLD this piece is! I knew what the city looked like and we've been given a diagram, but seeing it is so much...more.
Tux 16th Mar 2015, 8:09 PM edit delete reply
Oh, I'm sure that last panel didn't take much time or anyth--oh who am I kidding that is GORGEOUS. The perspective is particularly stunning--I could totally see that as a wallpaper. I love it :D
Notos 17th Mar 2015, 2:54 AM edit delete reply
It did take a while! Part of me wishes I could have done it with a night time color scheme, it would have looked more triking with darks and neon, but wouldn't make sense for them to leave in the dead of night. Ah well!
jhoy 17th Mar 2015, 12:30 AM edit delete reply
I wonder if anyone lives that high up.
Notos 17th Mar 2015, 2:57 AM edit delete reply
Oh they certainly do, if they have the credits!
DrawingBadly 17th Mar 2015, 3:44 AM edit delete reply
I would have literally commissioned someone to do the last panel for me if that's what I had to draw DX amazing! I cannot do such great buildings/perspective etc.
John 17th Mar 2015, 10:13 AM edit delete reply
Wow Indeed; such a contrast to the depths of Hyperion. Actually reminds me of one of Alderaans cities; it was built in an impact crater. Can't remember it's name. (Also Canyon city; Alderaan)

I could stare at the final panel for hours picking out all the details. Shame I'm at work.
Notos 17th Mar 2015, 3:48 PM edit delete reply
Thanks John.
Not familiar with Alderaan, but Hyperion City is very much inspired by Graviton City from an 80's anime Project A-ko, a favorite of mine.

Why would the landscape be radioactive after a meteor strike? Meteors aren't generally radioactive... unless it's just something they say to dissuade people from leaving?
Notos 18th Mar 2015, 4:13 PM edit delete reply
Playing it up like the rest of the message. But the bit about harmful dust clouds due to a climate shift is accurate. The most dangerous thing about the wastelands is essentially being alone in a lawless area, no services of any kind. If you get sick or injured you're pretty screwed.

I've been a webcomic fan for over a decade, and have never been happier with a recent find. Your art is excellent, the story is engaging, and I like the characters SO much more than I do in most other comics. Keep up the awesome work! :)

"You have engaged in the physical action of 'KISS'..."

So, I dunno if it's just because I haven't been able to look at the comic for a while (i've been lacking in devices capable of the java part. moving and stuff) but something about this particular DLC charge really makes me angry, lol. You will not put a charge on my kisses, future fantasy DLC. I won't allow it!!

(I think I'm fully confirmed for "emotionally involved" in this story.)
