Sun, seclusion and skinny dipping. I wouldn't trust that water, personally.

Big thanks to Thomas who donated to the comic this week, cheers!

See you next Sunday.

It seems like a lost bit of paradise. You done wonders with the sunlight.

If you want me anything, I be in the water :D
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:15 PM edit delete reply
I'm pretty pleased with how the sun effect came out, it really makes the pages chug/slow when some of the other animations come up though, I have to limit it;s use to 1 or two panels only.
Sapfo 29th Mar 2015, 3:31 PM edit delete reply
You should be very pleased :)

Admiral Jane
Splash!! It does look refreshing

But, I'm with you. I wouldn't trust that water.

Have fun Vinnie and Galvin!!
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:16 PM edit delete reply
I generally don't like swimming in natural bodies of water. I definitely wouldn't in wasteland bodies of water.

Took the words right out of my mouth ;)

Good thing about a meteor-based post-apocalypse is that one doesn't have to worry about irradiated water. No mutant fishes or chugging down on rad-away after a dip!

Will there be any Fists at the Northstar? You wa SHOCK!
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:19 PM edit delete reply
Glad you noticed the reference :P though it isn't terrible subtle I suppose.
josbell975 30th Mar 2015, 5:43 PM edit delete reply
With Papa, I see the Fist happening. No, not to subtle, but still good and still not something everyone would get like Death City.
chris-tar 29th Mar 2015, 8:20 AM edit delete reply
"Northstar Point" nice homage to FOTN!
Are they actually going to camp overnight here?
Also, that water may be radioactive!
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:20 PM edit delete reply
FOTN is an old favorite. I saw the movie when I was way too young to see the movie.
And yep they'll spend the night there.
nooB 29th Mar 2015, 8:24 AM edit delete reply
And now Fridge sinks to the bottom
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:26 PM edit delete reply
Ha! I was thinking about how much a full synth body would weigh in comparison to a flesh and blood while drawing this actually, for that exact reason. I figure there might not be a huge difference. Since they are a silicone alloy rather than straight-up metal. Muscle fibers are also silicone based. Bones might actually be less dense than flesh and blood because of lack of marrow. Probably useless information but fun to think about.
Feare909 29th Mar 2015, 8:39 AM edit delete reply
ENVOY OF THE HELP-CROW: You miss-spelled the word 'much' in the last panel, right before Fridge and Papa jump into the water. Galena says, "They don't get to enjoy muich time outside of the gird."
There is an unneeded 'i' in there 0-0;;
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:27 PM edit delete reply
Yep got it, thanks.
Feare909 30th Mar 2015, 5:29 AM edit delete reply
*Zoidberg voice* Hooray! I'm Helping!
SwampertGuy 29th Mar 2015, 10:00 AM edit delete reply
Lifeguard has been spelled "lifegUArd".

Also, that reflection in the water is really cool!
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:28 PM edit delete reply
Fixed, thanks.
Glad you dig the reflection effect.
Danny Zephronic 29th Mar 2015, 10:58 AM edit delete reply
That is a very interesting reflection in the last panel... kinda looks like some kinda digital field
Is it implying anything or just a stylistic choice?
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:28 PM edit delete reply
Huh, that seemed to be a consequence of having too many movieclip assets stacked in flash, I didn't notice that in the export. Should be fixed now.
Danny Zephronic 29th Mar 2015, 4:09 PM edit delete reply
Fair enough then XD
It was a very pretty glitch though =3
Reminded me a bit of Digimon
josbell975 30th Mar 2015, 5:46 PM edit delete reply
Fridge Digivolve to....Motor Mouth!
Ovnuniarchos 29th Mar 2015, 10:59 AM edit delete reply
Oh, Galena, and you are proudly displaying your "goods"! XD

She finds that weird?
Well, then she will indeed have a hard time :'D
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:29 PM edit delete reply
She is a bit more of a prude than some of the other characters (clearly). I like to give each character a range on how shameless they are.
josbell975 30th Mar 2015, 5:47 PM edit delete reply
I would have led the charge of naked men into the water...again. But here, I would test it first, lol.
Notos 30th Mar 2015, 9:18 PM edit delete reply
I'm of the "as long as I'm not the only one, I'm down" type, so guess I'd be there too.

Feare909: You spelled "Grid" wrong (you spelled it "gird". Just sayin' ;)

Liska 29th Mar 2015, 2:07 PM edit delete reply
Wow, the animated sunbeams! Such attention to detail.

And the water doesn't look too bad --- it's no weirder than going swimming in a cave (with fish and other things in it, which was really strange to feel against my leg)
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 2:31 PM edit delete reply
Yeah it's probably perfectly safe, outside of any unknown debris or other 'surprises' that might be in it. Also the no lifeguard thing. But they aren't going to turn into mutants or gain superpowers or anything. The worst thing is probably the sun.
Just4Kixx 29th Mar 2015, 5:31 PM edit delete reply
What? No mutant superpowers? What's the point of jumping nekkid into a post-apocalyptic pond if you can't become a super mutant? Oh well, I suppose Fridge already has that synth body...
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 10:28 PM edit delete reply
Though out there with no limiters he could probably do some almost-superhero type stuff.
Melk 29th Mar 2015, 5:28 PM edit delete reply
Can't wait to see Papa come out of that pool with two extra toes >_>
josbell975 30th Mar 2015, 5:49 PM edit delete reply
They are already synth.
Notos 30th Mar 2015, 9:19 PM edit delete reply
Maybe they won't be on his feet :o
josbell975 6th Apr 2015, 6:45 AM edit delete reply
I'll still love him.
Finz_ 29th Mar 2015, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
So much interesting stuff going on artistically on this page. Did that first panel end up taking quite a while to draw? Looking forward to this last stretch of pages. Things should get interesting without DLC getting in the way, maybe even some mushy/revealing conversations! See you next week ^^
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
It didn't take too long, I find there is a bit more freedom when drawing ruins like this, things don't need to look 'nice' or functional, I've had a lot of fun with them actually.
Draginbeard 29th Mar 2015, 6:06 PM edit delete reply
The Water looks better than what we have to drink in Phoenix!

Ah yes, swimming in a crater pond with the jagged ruins of the old world in the back ground. I think champagne is in order!
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 10:25 PM edit delete reply
I'm sure Galena will have the booze covered.
bobbyjoeguy 29th Mar 2015, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
In the first panel is it Northstar or North Star? The sign says "Northstar" and the dialogue says "North Star", just wondering. Beautiful as always, especially the sun on the water.
Notos 29th Mar 2015, 10:24 PM edit delete reply
It should have been Northstar in the dialogue, edited that, thanks. Glad you dig the sun effects.
bobbyjoeguy 5th Apr 2015, 9:16 AM edit delete reply
I just noticed something else in the second part of the first panel it mentions "the waters edge", should there be an apostrophe in water's? Am I being to nitpicky?
Wuffles 30th Mar 2015, 6:23 AM edit delete reply
Sorry if this has already been answered, but are there other cities out there? Surely the crator site and a few outposts in the wastes arent the only remnants of mankind? Are they just too far away to talk to/about?
Notos 30th Mar 2015, 12:30 PM edit delete reply
There are other cities, certainly. Though the meteor impact did a great job of generally fucking the rest of the world up with extreme climate change, so they are dealing with their own problems (economic, trade or otherwise) so there might not necessarily be a better option than Hyperion. The way I saw it was a domino effect, like if some of the largest most populated cities in the US were wiped out within a single moment, and the rest of the country (and eventually, world) saw the effect of having to deal with the ensuing climate disaster and economy crash.

Gotta say, I'm loving this comic! Started reading it, and couldn't put it down until I finished last page. All the characters are likable, and the story is entrancing. Also, your art is phenomenal!

Hey author, you should tween clouds for added ambiance!
Notos 1st Apr 2015, 12:26 PM edit delete reply
I did consider this, but it sort of came down to 'sun rays' or 'clouds', as the more movie clips you have running at once the more the swf slows, sun rays ultimately won out.

This is such a gorgeous page. The colors, the lighting, the character details; I swear this comic gets better by the update.

*whispers* fridge i.l.u..

Galena continues to be the glue of the group. Everyone needs a Galena in their lives.

I actually didn't get the FOTN reference at first until reading the comments below, and now I feel a little silly for not catching it. Roses are red, violets are blue. Omae wa mou shindeiru.

She is certainly an essential cog in the machine that is Buying Time. Indeed we could all use someone with that many connections in our lives.
