In one scene, you sketched the girl's hands in black, and everything else in red. Why?
Just curious

Someone asked this on the previous page too. In Flash, black will automatically layer itself above red, so when I need to do any sort of revisions, or pose something over top another thing I can just quickly switch color and keep sketching and not have to deal with fiddling with layers.

These comparisons really show how much went into the finished "clean" panels vs the final "roughs" for the vacay scenes. Neat-o! Also, I really like how you blurred the ruined buildings in the background; really emphasises that they're far off in the distance and also implies the heat haze from this hot, sunny, desert-like wasteland. Also love your sun reflections in the water. Would've been cool to have a little bit of movement in those two big splashes, though I suppose getting them to that point was effort in itself. Thanks Notos, always fascinating!

Yeah I agree about the movement thing.Though it's a strange balancing act with the effects sometimes given the nature of the comic, deciding what to animate and what to leave static. Animated splashes would have been a huuuge time sink, but the reflections (a much less complicated animation) sort of beg for more movement in the panel. Tough to decide sometimes!

Yep ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That being said though, I find that the panels in today's update (where Papa and Fridge are wrestling in the water) don't beckon as much for more animation, probably because it has the boys and the splashes together in the scene and it would look odd if one was animated and not the other. So I think you made the right choice not to animate the movement of the water, for sake of consistency. But maybe just a little animated highlight or glint of sunlight would've taken away a bit of that "frozen in time" feel. Not to worry, like I said, you put a lot of 'polish' into the final panels for the vacation, which is already icing on the cake :) More animation would've been... more icing ;P

Galvin...unless he is not well enough mentally from dealing with his fathers death...

I'll be setting up a vote this Sunday, it will be of the remaining secondary characters, I'll most likely have a Galvin and Vinnie one on the last hiatus after next chapter.
