Everything you wanted to know about Fridge but weren't afraid to ask! (You really, REALLY weren't!)
Thanks to everyone who participated, sorry I couldn't include all of your questions, there were some good ones I couldn't fit in due to time and space restrictions but I appreciate every one.
This will bring us to the end of the Hiatus supplements, I'll be posting Chapter 4 Title page next week, and the following Sunday we resume with Chapter 4!

I really enjoyed the Q&A with Papa Obari, and I have to say that this Q&A topped that one for me. Wish we had time for more of Fridge's answers!

I think it'd be cool if some of the answers that don't necessarily benefit from the comic-medium could still be answered on a Q&A page or something for later down the line. >.>; But that's more because I can't get enough of the Q&A's, but I can't wait for more story to come out. So conflicted! :D
Notos 2nd Mar 2014, 2:42 PM edit delete reply
I really wanted to include all the questions, but I have to limit it to a certain amount due to time restrictions, and don't want the segment to get too long in the tooth. I might put up a Q&A / Frequently asked Questions page though, good idea.

DAMN! Fridge is just so fine! Thanks, man!

I wasn't expecting my questions to be answered :P Poor Fridge. The whole internet wants to see his junk.

That was fun. Can't wait for chapter 4 to start :3

Apparently, though it was to be expected. I appreciate the curiosity if anything else.

Wow, Mine got featured, thank you!

Thanks so much for taking our input, that was so much fun! Looking forward to the next Q&A, but even more so for the next chapter. See you next week!
Notos 2nd Mar 2014, 2:52 PM edit delete reply
Thanks for taking part. I'll have to think about who to use for the next Q&A, but that's a while down the line.
Finz_ 5th Mar 2014, 6:04 AM edit delete reply
Well Galvin or Vinnie wouldn't be out of the question unless you're trying to save them for now. But I'm sure you'll figure out what's best.

Miss those two quite a bit by now :)
Notos 5th Mar 2014, 1:55 PM edit delete reply
I figured I would only use secondary characters since they don't get much spotlight, but I suppose that doesn't need to be the case. Maybe I'll put it up to vote when the time comes.
BioBear 9th Mar 2014, 3:35 AM edit delete reply
Couple ideas for Q&A:

Galvin's Sister

Tertiary characters: Vinnie's Parents to talk about being an Autonom.
V_Rocket 2nd Mar 2014, 1:39 PM edit delete reply
Well It's nice to know that Fridge still has some kind of Man parts left.
Notos 2nd Mar 2014, 3:00 PM edit delete reply
Indeed, the internet can rest easy in this knowledge.
TheD-Wrek 2nd Mar 2014, 2:17 PM edit delete reply
Whoopsie! Hahaha. Loved the Q&A segment. :)
meep 2nd Mar 2014, 2:54 PM edit delete reply
Them old things are awesome LOL

Great fun, and impressed at how much thought you must put into this world. Thanks for the Q&A, even though I forgot to come pry ;)

Thanks a lot, it's been a real kick world building for this story so glad you are digging it.

Sorry, all I could do was laugh out loud for about 15 seconds when I saw Fridge walk out with his huge mechano-dong exposed. (I wonder if that means anything subconsciously?) Anyway, this was a fascinating insight into the workings of a full synth being. It seems kind of radical to have parts of your body cut off and replaced with mechanical ones, but in Fridge's case, I suspect that he became deathly ill, or stricken with a crippling disease that made the choice to go full synth a very reasonable option. I would think that when people became very old, like in their 70s or 80s, that most of them would be going full synth and living for another 800 years, or for however long the current technology could keep their remaining body parts alive. Very entertaining update.

Thanks, there are certainly a lot of avenues to explore with the concept, even just as a 'side feature' of the main story there is a lot to go into. I guess that is why we see such lenghty and in depth stories/worlds were cyborgs, androids, replicants take center stage like Bladerunner, Ghost in the Shell, etc.

Long time reader, first time commenting. Just wanted to say I love this comic. I love how even though it is a futuristic setting and featuring futuristic tech (synths, et al) it is the most realistic, down to earth gay-themed webcomics I read. The characters might be partially made from metal, but they are human, with human emotions and human flaws (as a slightly overweight gay mechanic I relate to Vinnie quite well, though I'm probably taller). It is a refreshing change from other comics that place the characters in a Will and Grace style world where everyone is rich, everyone is beautiful, and everyone is gay and happy, almost to the point of being annoying.

Anyway, I'm sorry I missed the chance to "Ask Fridge". Based on the answers he gave to some other questions, I'd like to have known: Can the AC82 Model B provide Fridge with orgasm? Does a full synth "eliminate", since they eat? And what happens to a synth body, or synth body parts, when the person dies?
Notos 3rd Mar 2014, 2:08 AM edit delete reply
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you dig it! I'm happy to hear you find the characters relatable. As far as the questions about Fridge, all parts function the same as their flesh and blood counterparts. I imagine if we can replicate something as essential to our survival as hearts in current day, 700-800 years from now we'll probably see some pretty amazing stuff. As for when they die, much like us now they choose to be cremated (burials become a thing of the past) or donate their body for "recycling", kind of like organ donors do now.

oh my fridge, now a pity i checked this until now i was kind of busy, if not i was going to ask to show us a picture of his years with vinnie at college to check how he was before sytn, and now knowing he was like similar to vinnie wow, by the way it would have been nice to see him using that speedo, he is so sexy. hope later you make another Q&A with him
Notos 3rd Mar 2014, 2:10 AM edit delete reply
There was another question about how he looked before SBPR, and I wanted to include it but was at a lack for time. I'll probably do something in the future.
FuryOfFirestorm 3rd Mar 2014, 5:02 AM edit delete reply
That was me. Now I haz a sad that my question almost made it and got cut.
ashrium 3rd Mar 2014, 9:12 AM edit delete reply
something curious, what is the song he was singing?, i think i know those lyrics from somewhere but i cannot remember or they look similar to something i heard in the past.
Notos 3rd Mar 2014, 1:47 PM edit delete reply
Rhythm of Love by DJ company. A 90's dance song. In their time it must be a forgotten relic.
Rauron 2nd Mar 2014, 10:51 PM edit delete reply
Great answer session! I liked the way you dealt with all of the "show us the goods" questions, letting us have our jollies without compromising Fridge's character. While I am disappointed that my questions weren't picked, I think overall the mix of things addressed allowed some fun and unobtrusive world-building. Someone else mentioned some text-only Q&A stuff, I see, which seems like it could be a nice supplement. I hope the hiatus has been helpful, and please keep up the good work!
Notos 3rd Mar 2014, 9:44 PM edit delete reply
Gotta let the readers have their jollies, it's no fun otherwise.
As I mentioned before I'll probably put up a FAQ page at some point. the hiatus has been good, ready to start on Chapter 4 soon, I hope the buffer I have lasts long enough to take us through the whole chapter.

I had a lot of fun designing his body, actually. And his camo-swatch lets me do something different everytime, its like a secondary wardrobe option.
Draginbeard 3rd Mar 2014, 8:59 PM edit delete reply
very well done Q&A!!
Just4Kixx 4th Mar 2014, 1:10 AM edit delete reply
Thanks for answering my questions, Notos. Now I'm gonna get greedy and ask one more: Are synth upgrades, when medically necessary, as in Fridge's case, covered under a type of health care system? I ask because Fridge and Vinnie dropped out of college and are working menial jobs, suggesting Fridge does not have a lot of money, but at the same time if everyone could get upgrades for free, everyone would have them (I know I'd not miss my arthritic elbows one bit)...
Notos 4th Mar 2014, 1:44 PM edit delete reply
Medically necessary, yes. And only to some extent; There are "Grades" of upgrades you can get,A,B and C. A-Grade being the most advanced and "human" looking, I would imagine health care would only provide bare minimum what is necessity, Fridge has B-Grade parts here and there like his big chunky wrist joints, and face plates. Also "extras" like camo-swatch aren't covered.
josbell975 4th Mar 2014, 8:36 PM edit delete reply
I knew Fridge wouldnt show the goods. That was a good work around. His sack was bigger then mine! And cut again...Do the synth ones have a natural option? I only thought of that after I saw it, lol.

So Fridge's body was more like Vinnies? I want to see that, sounds hot! Hey, I'm a chaser. What do you expect?

In RL, when limbs are lost, they are matched to what they used to have. I've read sci fi where they even mold it with birth marks and what not to give it the illusion of being real. You take it in a diff direction, and I actually like this, where there is no cover up. But I would still think a guy being 6 foot would have a 6 foot syth body. I could imagine transgender or a little smudging of the details but you went balls out on this. I'd give my beard to be a synth cop, not full synth, but enough to have fun.
Notos 5th Mar 2014, 2:19 AM edit delete reply
There is an extensive catalogue from a number of different "Brand names" to browse when it comes to upgrades, you can choose parts to match your flesh and blood body or pick and choose how you like. Fridge did the latter, obviously.
Also, I think I might have read some of the stories you're talking about where they mold birthmarks, they did it in The Bionic Man at least..
josbell975 5th Mar 2014, 3:54 AM edit delete reply
I was thinking of a Star Wars book mainly, but also Bionic Man and Woman when I wrote the sci fi comment. There are always gonna be more questions about the synth, and not just me, but I'm glad you got the cock shot out of the way so ppl will stop asking (in theory), lol.

Has anyone shown you, or have you found, any fan fiction based on your comic yet? I've seen the art alreay...its just a matter of time, but I would think you would have gotten a ton already.

Can people with Synth jaws whistle or play instruments that require blowing?
Notos 5th Mar 2014, 6:50 PM edit delete reply
An 'A-Grade' mouth/jaw might be able play a wind instrument, but I imagine whistling would be out of the question. They can get away with replicating the sound with vocal synthesizers.
josbell975 6th Mar 2014, 2:17 AM edit delete reply
or other fun mouth hobbies...

All that would be synth lips more then jaw since the mandible really doesnt play a part there really...hmmm, makes me wonder more. I would think someone would have made DSL (not the internet) mandatory for all mandible and maxilla jobs...no pun intended.
Sultmhoor 6th Mar 2014, 5:02 PM edit delete reply
Relatedly... does he have any pictures of himself from before all of his synth implants?
Notos 6th Mar 2014, 8:23 PM edit delete reply
Someone else had asked this too, I wanted to include it but couldn't whip up the design due to time restrictions, I might fit it in the story in the future.

I'm probably wrong, since your references are usually very exact - but doe's his pink gear and wings swatch reference the Freakangels webcomic by Warren Ellis and Paul Duffield?

I'm probably very wrong, but worth a shot - since if you haven't read that ingenious and strange comic then I totally recommend it :D
