Just a heads up, there will be no update next Sunday as I'll be on Vacation and away from my "studio" for the entire week. But we'll be back on track Sept 28th. Enjoy!

luckily it seems the implants work outside the grid

Synth parts work, however they have no limiters outside of the grid.

I didn't even consider that...nice

Haha. Love that the first thing Galvin does once they're 'off the grid' is kiss Vinnie. ^~^ So sweet.

Have fun on your vacation and thanks for the heads-up.

Lovely update! Part of me reckons Vinnie's about to have his headphones stolen any minute now. Is that just me being used to too much neighbourhood crime?

It's also refreshing to see Vinnie in the driving seat. It seems that - out of necessity - much of their relationship has taken place in Galvin's world. In this page, we've got Galvin on the back foot. As a consequence it's pleasing to see them in a location where Vinnie may be more comfortable and savvy than Galvin. Vin certainly seems unfazed by the reality of the sublevels.

But on the other hand, it was Galvin who suggested the sublevels. Vinnie's stammer is back. And those headphones are pretty damn visible...

Thoughts, anyone?

On another topic: have a lovely holiday! Going anywhere nice?

About Vinny's headphones being visible and tempting, you're probably right but one could say that Galvin's parts could be really valuable too!
ttownlittlebear 14th Sep 2014, 3:05 PM edit delete reply
Maybe Vinnie's headphones will get used in sort of barter

REJ - Thanks glad you like it! Vinnie is definitely more at home here, though he's more 'stick-in-between' high levels and sub levels, he is definitely more at home here than when he visited Galvin in the higher levels. A bit of a switch, now it's Galvin's turn to be the stranger. Also I'm going somewhere much warmer, Arizona.

I'm more worried about a deadly "tourist trap" scenario, where roving gangs keep an eye out for people who obviously only came down here for a free snog. I mean it's not like they're the only ones to have this idea. I have also thought about there being a valuable black market synth trade, and lots of front-line doctors hooking up second hand synth for people who loose functionality in various altercations. I'm very excited to be in the sub-levels and for what's in store!

Gosh, that sewer is- /sorry/ that ‘canal’ is HUGE… Guess Hyperion citizen sure do sweat a lot ;°)

About the /welcoming/ graff, isn't it the point for our high-levels friends coming down there ^////^

Yes wanted to make it very "grand", I imagine the waterworks for a city as massive as Hyperion would be very expansive.
MortarAndPistol 14th Sep 2014, 3:43 PM edit delete reply
Oh... this definitely has an ominous tone to it. ...and now we have to wait two weeks to see what horrors may come? How dare you! (Enjoy your vacation- really!)
Notos 14th Sep 2014, 7:22 PM edit delete reply
Notos
Hope the wait isn't too rough, I was considering bringing the files with me to update remotely, but I'll be a week behind production regardless so taking the week off is just easier anyways. Hang in there.

Initially I didn't even notice that they were moving around the bottom panel, got swept up in the massive bubbles in comparison.

So Hyperion has rain, but I'm curios about other weather and seasons. Must be because Fall is hitting here =P

Yeah the get pretty lost in the last panel, just little dots, s'why I opted for the little "pointer".

I'm digging level zero, but it's surprisingly cleaner and quieter than I would've expected. Not that I'm complaining. I love the fact that they've found a potential getaway. Can't wait to see what happens next. :]
Enjoy your time off.
Notos 14th Sep 2014, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

Level zero is essentially just a drainage canal/waterway. Sub Levels get a bit more grungy and populated.
And thanks!

Now I'm very curious how Papa managed to afford the cranium work. It not only seems extreme, but pretty expensive too.

The sub levels make me think of Bladerunner. I have this vision of a jammed packed ghetto, a black market based economy, with rival gangs and all manner of nefarious types running things.
Notos 14th Sep 2014, 11:01 PM edit delete reply

If I find the time to go into Papa and Galena's story I might explore it further, though it depends on how smoothly production goes on the main story.
Also your vision isn't too far off.

The last frame leaves me quite conflicted. It is ridiculous sweet, but a shame that they have to hide away to be able to do it...

This also seems like the ideal place for a tragic turn of events for our love struck couple.
Hope nothing bad befalls them, but if it did, you could say it was kind of like a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

Hopefully this doesn't get tiring to hear: your work is absolutely on another level. Keep it up.

I, uh, I realized halfway through what I was typing that that could be misinterpreted as a pun. That didn't stop me.

Loved this page. So excited to finally be getting lower in the city, although we're not quite in... SUBurbia yet (I am sorry). I am very wary, like most of the other readers, about how our two turtle doves will be treated by the locals during their time down here. But also very excited for whatever you have planned, even if we're all completely off the mark!

I hope you have a really nice getaway. I'm constantly astounded by how hard you work to put out this comic and I really admire you and I hope you can relax a little. Stay hydrated! Wear a big floppy hat maybe. Thank you for the page!

Curious to see what kind of culture develops when there isn't the same restrictions as the upper-levels. Vinny savvyness and confort is a fun change of roles as well.

The possibility of Papa and Galena having their backgrounds explored at some point would be nice, your supporting characters could very well star their own stories.

Also, have a nice vacation!

So Papa and Galena lived there?! I wonder how that can be called living... where did they even get food from? Oh my, I'm sure interested in that part!

but gosh, all of it left my mind for a second... at that kiss xD they're so cute ^^
Notos 19th Sep 2014, 3:57 AM edit delete reply

The level seen in this page is level zero, basically the gutter of the city, a waterway where nobody really lives, well maybe some homeless. The sub levels below )which we'll see in another page or two) is more of what you'd call a shanty town suitable for living conditions, as far as ghetto's go.

The update while Notos was on holidays...

The kissing continues, and gets hotter until they find a random mattress, and let their passion consume them.

In the meanwhile Mice and slugs start singing in 4 part harmony - it's a beautiful world. :D

They should come down just to get away from paying for everything. granted, not the nicest place in the world, but once in a while, after they have cleared out a corner for themselves, it could work. :)
