Back from vacation, thanks for the patience. Let's get things back on track with some casual gutter sex (what Cyberpunk story is complete without it, really?) and some more fanservice, shall we? Apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I usually give the pages a once over the morning before posting but I'm terribly jet lagged and am off to nap land. I'll handle any corrections later. Thanks again for hanging in there during the break!

Is it so bad that I like the first panel the best? The awww factor hit so high there.

No it's pretty funny, it was by far the least complicated one!

Any other gay themed comic would have buckled under the weight of a blowjob scene. You executed it flawlessly and tastefully in one (semi animated) corner of a single page, and moved on with the characters lives, just as they did.

Buying Time is #1.

Oh, boys! :D Beautifully done and I love how everything just flows naturally. 'Cutest butt', indeed. XD
Notos 28th Sep 2014, 10:06 PM edit delete reply
Thanks Jestana, I've found it a bit "tricky" on how to pace the sex scenes so far, since most of the comic/dialogue happens in real-time, how to I 'pace it' so they don't look like 'two-pump-chumps', I hoped the 'fade' helped a bit.
PunkTiger 28th Sep 2014, 4:07 PM edit delete reply
Woo! Bit of a liberating scene now that they're "off the grid," so to speak.

Quick question: In the second panel, is the shadow of the fan on the floor coming from the fan on the wall, or is there an unseen fan in the ceiling? I ask because the blades seem to be spinning in the wrong direction for a shadow from the wall fan.
Notos 28th Sep 2014, 10:08 PM edit delete reply
I'll chalk it up to one in the ceiling, I originally wanted to have it from the vent in the wall complete with typical 'rays of light' coming through, but found it way too tricky to pull off, especially with the boys in front of the shadow, so I opted for the easier options ;) Thanks for reading!

I love that Galvin had the butt shot to show Vinnie that yeah, he does have a cute butt. :) That's definitely a confidence inducing thing. Clearly insecurity for body shapes are still rampant.

Indeed, everyone I'm sure (unless you're a narcicist) must feel that way to some extent, Vinnie is no different, but you'll always have a fan of what you got, somewhere.

SilverLion80 28th Sep 2014, 4:45 PM edit delete reply
This was a great page. I love how well you deal with the characters. Yeah, blowjob, woot!, but the character development is what's the best. Vinnie's insecurity is nicely offset by Gavin's warmth. I'm more in love with the actual story than the smut. Keeping the intimate scenes minimal and tasteful keep this from being mere porn and elevating it to a real story.
Notos 28th Sep 2014, 10:18 PM edit delete reply
Thanks a lot Silver. BT kind of reflects my own taste for 'erotica' in comics and other mediums, I guess. Character development that takes a front seat, tasteful (yet still unafraid to show the goods) scenes as an afterthought. A healthy sprinkling of fanservice now and then helps too.

I was on pins and needles when reading this page because I was so sure things will go wrong...

HOWEVER nothing went wrong for now so I'm happy

Anyway this is a really important page for this whole comic in my opinion. The fact that now both Vinnie and Galvin can speak freely can change everything about their relationship. Also I really like Vinnie's unsure face at the end after learning Galvin took a pic of him in the tub. I think it may lead up to something else later on.

Also this is my first time commenting on this comic! I've re-read this over and over many times! I really love it and I can't wait for the next page.

...I was really curious to your consistency in uh, shape and size. Although Vinnie seemed a bit bigger in this scene, Galvin is very consistent, all the way down to the shape of his ballsack. Again...I know, strange thing to notice...but good job. But it makes me think you have a bit of a crush on Galvin, since you know...you KNOW every line of it.
MortarAndPistol 29th Sep 2014, 10:00 PM edit delete reply
What does the graffiti on the wall say in the penultimate panel? It looks like "This city has been dead for years now". Is that right? If so I wonder if they mean the city post-crater or whatever was there pre-crater. Or did the sub-levels used to have a city on it's own?
Notos 30th Sep 2014, 12:25 PM edit delete reply
You read it correctly, it's a lyric from a Protomen song that I felt was relevant to the setting. The sub levels were the first habitable constructs built in the bottom of the crater, the rest of Hyperion eventually built over top it as time went by.

Stardust 1st Oct 2014, 4:16 PM edit delete reply
I was wondering what that scene on the first chapters of the comic where Galvin took a Vinnie photo were all about and if they would come back at some point. To be honest it kind of throw me off and made me upset the first time I read because a) I find the idea of taking pictures of people without their consent quite creepy (and anti-ethical) b) taking pictures of someone naked even more creepy, at the time it even made me wonder if Galvin would be a sketchy dude, but since it wasn't brought back I thought it was just something that was forgotten or idk.

I mean, I understand that Vinnie maybe is the kind of dude that hopes so much that the other part shows interest instead or him taking action, and probably feels more comfortable this way too, but the fact that he reacted so well to this came out weird to me, I thought that even being cool with it he would call out Galvin at some point.

Also...is this something that Galvin does? like, he takes peoples photos without them being aware? I hope not.

Would be nice to have this addressed.
Notos 2nd Oct 2014, 12:39 PM edit delete reply
Sorry you found it weird. The story is pretty weird in general when you think about it - I don't think any character here can classify as 'normal'.

The intention was to have a some kind of tangible proof of Galvin finding Vinnie physically attractive despite having flaws that have given him overwhelming body and confidence issues, rather than just 'saying' it, which in this setting isn't worth much.

Also, everyone has a bit of a pervy streak in them.
Stardust 2nd Oct 2014, 3:52 PM edit delete reply
I dont have problem with weird, weird is cool, i love weird. It's just that taking photos without someone consent it's not just "weird" or quirky or silly, it's an actual real-life thing that happens and it's really creepy and /wrong/. What I meant by adressing it is that althought Galvin did it and Vinnie is fine with it anyway he shouldn't be doing this to people, since its crossing the line of their personal space. Like, this is sexual harassment, you know, when you trust someone to be around them in a situation like this and they film you or take photos this is an act of violence itself. I dont think that respecting that is somehow being above other people in the sense that you dont experience desire or just enjoying some eye candy, but theres a line where it stops being something that its okay to do, and thats one.

I understand the reason behind this plot-point and callback, but there are other ways to adress things like this. Just seeing him on the earlier panels looking at Vinnie with a different facial expression could be enough and would remove the problematic aspect, and then in the future would create a quite cute and nice talk like the one i believe you tried to do here.

I love reading your comic, seriously, you write well and the panel itself was really cute and well done, as always, but when that photo thing came up it kind of ruined it.

It's a well-meaning critique because i believe you wouldn't want to send the message that you condone this kind of behavior, so i hope you understand why i'm saying this and that it comes from a place of respect for your work and not just some kind of attack because you may have made me offended or something like that, i wouldn't bother otherwise.

*(also avoid saying "sorry that you find/feel/think that way", its a non-apology that removes the speaker from responsability and create the false sense that the problem only exist on the other person head or that the other peoples emotions are the ones at fault, not really productive to anyone)

Notos 2nd Oct 2014, 8:42 PM edit delete reply
Making passive aggressive comments on things people should "avoid" saying on their own pages isn't terribly productive to anyone either.

I get your critique, and thank you, but honestly it comes off like a lecture on morality.

Personally if I found out my boyfriend snuck a pic of me before we were official because he thought I was attractive, I'd be flattered. But different strokes for different folks; some people will agree, some people will disagree, that's just how it is. Though the vast majority (if not all) of the audience thought the original snapshot moment was cute or funny, so...dunno.
Stardust 2nd Oct 2014, 11:21 PM edit delete reply
It was a quite direct comment and not passive at all. You're right its your page, but the reason i called it out was because it came off dismissive when i'm sure it was not the intention.

About the comic,

Harassment is a real thing, not matter of opinion, and if someone it's ok with certain behaviors its not ok to assume that everyone else is; Specially when such behavior is not neutral and assume consent from someone without asking.

Someone assuming that people don't like being yelled in the middle of the street causes nothing, someone assuming the opposite does. If someone has a particular fetish for being called out there will be severals spaces where they will be able to do so in a enviroment that suits them and don't create the possibility of engaging people that don't feel confortable, just an example.

Lots of people are okay with problematic things without thinking about why they may have unfortunate implications. I questioned you about it to make you aware in the hopes it was just a misunderstanding and that you were aware of that and maybe would adress it later.
Notos 3rd Oct 2014, 1:30 AM edit delete reply
Well, not sure what to tell you. I explained my intention for the scene, and you are the only person to complain about it so far, so not sure what you want me to say here. These plot points most likely won't be addressed in the story again, sorry. Hope you can continue to enjoy the comic as you have.
Stardust 3rd Oct 2014, 4:32 PM edit delete reply
I was ideally expecting you to address in-story that although Vinnie maybe is ok with Galvin taking photos of him, even if it was in the past when he didn't know, that taking photos of people without their consent (nude photos, no less) is wrong and that maybe Galvin should think about that if he did it to other people without them not even knowing other times. Did the character took photos of unaware people while they were on the metro? did he took photos of friends or hook-ups while they were naked because he assumed that since they felt comfortable around him it was ok to do that and not caring if they consented with it in the first place? If so, why he thinks that’s something ok to do?

And realistically I was expecting that you just didn't thought about that and would address it in comment saying that no, you don’t think that taking peoples photos without their consent and awareness is something cute or romantic to do to other people in real life, and that this was just your characters talking, not you, but you already said your personal opinion about the subject, which seems to be that to you this behavior is not a problem at all. And I really can't support someone that think that creeping into people’s personal space is an ok thing to do and that framing this antisocial behavior as romantic on media is not problematic at all.

So I’ll stop bothering you and I’m jumping out.
Notos 3rd Oct 2014, 8:13 PM edit delete reply
Thanks for the lecture on morality and the personal label. As an entirely free webcomic I do for my own enjoyment your lack of readership won't be an issue. Safe journey.
josbell975 5th Oct 2014, 7:20 PM edit delete reply
I've had boyfriends in the past that would watch me while I sleep. One even drew pics of me like I was a model or something. Slight creep factor there and they are now ex's anyways. I have strangers try and take my pic with their phones. Trying to look casual and actually being casual are 2 diff things. I just smile and wave! They get embarrassed that they were caught or ask to take another one with them in it, and I do. I've had guys look up my shorts, and tell me this on the 1st date and last, and like what they see. I have both genders looking up my kilt. Guys do it on the sly, but I feel I catch them most of the time since I'm always aware. Girls are less sly and more blunt to the point of even stooping down for a better look. And I give the flash to answer the age old question of what one wears under ones kilt. Skin.

Ppl have diff experiences in RL, they also handle things diff. But lets keep in mind that as MUCH as I wished otherwise, BT is not real. No real crime happened here. Vinnie is the ONLY one who gets to say cool or creepy since it only happened to him. And he looks fine with it. Shocked yes, but not mad or feeling violated. Galvin doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that does this on a reg basis. And this is coming from a guy that takes sex pics on a reg basis. If the other dude says no or no face, so be it. Others pose and ask for copies. But again, real life vs web comic.

If after 5 chapters he does one frame out of the entire comic that you don't like you are gonna call it quits? A bit extreme if you ask me, but to each their own. I think you're gonna miss out on more of what I think you would have agreed as a great story, but if you feel that strongly about it I get it, but would giving it one more chance be a bad thing really? I hope you do come back to read this and reconsider.

I just finished reading through your comic for the first time, and I LOVE it! The artwork is gorgeous, and the interface is really cool and original.

Just a small comment, since I've noticed that this has happened a few times (and I hope you don't take offense, this is just one of my pet peeves): plural words don't take an apostrophe! Words like "limiters" "ads" "logos" or "gets" do not need apostrophes. Apostrophes only indicate possession, or a contraction!

However, "Its" ONLY takes an apostrophe if it's a contraction of "it is" or "it has". If you're saying something like "Hot Legs opened its doors in 1421," its is a possessive pronoun like his or hers, and does NOT take an apostrophe. It's kind of confusing, but I'm a bit of a stickler for grammar.

I hope this didn't offend you! I love your comic, and I think you're incredibly talented :)

p.s. I think this intimate scene was really elegantly handled, and I can only hope there's more ahead!
Notos 3rd Oct 2014, 1:24 AM edit delete reply
Hey Kestrel, welcome aboard and thanks for the comment. You'll probably notice grammar and spelling errors quite a bit, it's my biggest weakness, thanks for the correction and hope you aren't too annoyed by future errors! Also there will be more intimate scenes ahead.
josbell975 5th Oct 2014, 7:30 PM edit delete reply
I was offended, lol! This isnt a English paper its a web comic! And yes, I just boycotted apostrophes, hahaha! You can always spot the English Majors.

So semi public (lets face it, that sewer drain is really a walk way/bridge of lower lvls and sub lvls that ANYONE can walk) blow jobs arent the issue, but apostrophes are? hahahaha. Some pet peeves make me laugh.I got my own quarks too but dont bring them out on others.

I hope you read enough of my comments to know I'm just teasing you :-p This is a GREAT comic and your gonna love it!

Ha, indeed josbell, if anything the comments on page will show you'll always be able to offend someone no matter what you do. Just gotta do what you want and your audience will find you.

I totally don't mind the grammer-pet-peevers, I'm dating one 7 years running ; ) And I don't mind the corrections, as long as people don't mind me making the errors!
